Patio chairs receive a lot of abuse

Patio chairs receive a lot of abuse from the elements.  If you would like to extend the life of your patio chairs, there are some easy ways to care for them.  Unlike indoor furniture, patio chairs often have a lot of exposure to sunlight and water, both of which are very damaging.  Wood patio chairs are particularly sensitive to these factors.  To minimize the damage to sensitive woods, finish is important.  If you notice that the finish on your wooden patio chair is starting to wear off or is not doing its job very well, replace it right away to prevent more serious damage.  It’s also a good idea to regularly wax and clean wooden patio chairs.  Metal patio chairs, though very durable, can also use some maintenance to stay looking good.  Wash iron, aluminum and steel patio chairs with soap and water to remove dirt and rust.  Coating them with wax or painting them can also help protect them.  Acrylic and resin patio chairs require very little maintenance but should also be washed regularly to keep them in good condition.  These types of maintenance do not take a whole lot of time or energy and can save you trouble later down the road.
